WHAT’S NEW ON PRIMETIME
THE AMAZING RACE
Last week, 8 teams set out for Stockholm, then Dakar (Africa) where they searched for a grave. Next this visited the village of Kayar where they had to either stack fish or catch fish. Then they conquered the salt mines and a pink lake. In the end, Kris and Jon kept their lead, but Don and Mary-Jean fell behind and were the last to arrive at the pit stop. They were granted a reprieve, but had to give up all of their money and will start this next leg without being given any cash. This week, teams depart from Ile De Goree, just off the coast of Africa.
1st Clue: teams must find their next clue at the Slave House, on the island of Goree, where people were held prior to be sent to the new world as slaves. While here, teams are granted the ability to place a rose on the gate of no return, in honor of the slaves who passed through. From the doorway, teammates can see a tribute statue. It affects Gus and Hera the most, and brings them utterly to tears as they honor their ancestors.
2nd Clue: Take a ferry back to the mainland and then travel by plane 3000 miles to Berlin. Once in Berlin they must take a train to a portion of the Berlin wall that is still standing (East Side Gallery), for their next clue. Don and Mary-Jean can’t bring themselves to ask the people of the poorest country in the world for money, and so they turn to the other teams, who pull together to get the old couple off the island.
Bolo gets in a huge fight with Hayden in the travel agency, over whether or not they should be allowed to purchase tickets for another team. In the end though, everyone gets on the same flight. At the train station, Jonathan gets mad at Adam for apparently “following them.” To me this is funny, since they’re all going to the same place anyway.
3rd Clue: Teams must then make their way to the Broken Chain Sculpture across from a famous destroyed church (symbol of the political unrest of the war). Don and Mary-Jean misread the clue and try to find the clue at the destroyed church.
DETOUR: Beers (go to a bar buy and trade steins of beer in search of 5 coasters with the team’s pictures on them) or Brats (Go to the citadel and use a hand run sausage maker to make a continuous string of Bratwurst, consisting of 7″ links).
4th Clue: Teams must now travel to Teufelsberg, German for Devil’s Mountain; at the base of the mountain, teams will find their next clue. At this point, Hayden and Aaron get into a taxi, but the driver doesn’t know where to go.
ROAD BLOCK: Soapbox Derby – person must climb to the top of Devil’s Mountain and race a soapbox derby car down the track; teams must be under the traditional time of 37 seconds to receive their next clue.
PITSTOP: Finally, teams must choose a luxury vehicle (Mercedes) and drive into downtown Berlin to Brandenburg Gate (symbol of the reunification of Germany) which is the pit stop for this leg of the race. Jonathan gets fed up with Victoria’s inability to read a map, and gets out of the car to let her drive, which puts them behind Freddy and Kendra. In the end, the two teams engage in a foot race. Jonathan drops his bag to run faster, and Victoria stops to pick it up. She runs crying her eyes out, and then he yells at her for picking up the bag. He later gets super mad at her, and pushes her shoulder (It’s horrible that he physically hurt her, however the radio made it sound worse than it actually was). He yells at her in front of the host, and in front of Berlin’s public. Phil tells him to talk to her, and he says that in competition there’s no room for compassion. This guy should be taken out behind the shed and shot in the head.
Order of arrival: Freddy/Kendra (wins vacation to Mexico), Jonathan/Victoria, Hayden/Aaron, Kris/Jon, Gus/Hera, Adam/Rebecca, and Lori/Bolo, who thought they’d come in last because they took a train instead of a cab are the seventh team to arrive. As a result of their slow start, Don and Mary-Jean are eliminated from the race.
Next week: Jonathan and Victoria wage a battle of the sexes, and Kendra passes out on a bungee task.
THE TEAMS:

THE APPRENTICE 2 Thursday, Sept. 9th, 2004
Last week we said Goodbye to Kevin and Sandy, and Kelly and Jen M, undertook their final task.
Jennifer M. is in charge of the Genworth Charity Basketball Classic to support the NBA’s Read to Achieve program with employees Chris, Pamela, and Stacie. She encounters criticism of her decision to delegate important tasks, as well as almost losing the commitment of the event’s emcee. Instead of being a passive, “nice” person to Chris Weber’s assistant, Jennifer gets right in her face and is almost rude about the emcee’s attempt to cancel.
Later, Jennifer insists that her team get some sleep, while she stays up all night printing out charts and timelines, and Pamela later criticizes her inability to strategize further. Later, she bails on the event, in favor of paper work. While everyone is watching, and getting excited, she’s on her cell phone, attempting to get paperwork sorted out.
Kelly is running the Genworth/Trump Polo Cup to help raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association, with employees John, Raj, and Elizabeth. He encounters problems with employee respect, as well as a continuous rain that threatens to cancel the entire event. Kelly gets super frustrated about the weather, and Raj and John’s ability to forget the task, drink the event’s wine, and then fool around. He later insists that the team must complete the goody bag task before anyone goes to bed.
Kelly and Elizabeth get lost driving around the countryside at night, and while putting up a tent, Raj and John, have trouble and end up breaking the sponsors’ signs. Kelly insists that his team go to sleep; however, his lack of direction keeps him over an hour past his estimated arrival time and Raj and John fall asleep on the patio of the polo club, listening to the frogs and crickets.
At the end of the events, both are deemed successful accomplishments of the apprentices. Trump takes all six “employees” into the boardroom. Jennifer is criticized for not catering to the VIPs at her event. She’s praised for her ability to delegate tasks and work hard to accomplish what needs to be accomplished. Kelly is criticized for his lack of catering to the VIPs. Raj calls Kelly robotic, and says that he lacks any sort of charisma. However, they all believe Kelly would be good, and solid.
Then each candidate has a chance to argue with Trump’s panel about what happened at the events. Jen is full of fire, and is again criticized for not catering to the VIPs. Kelly, sits back and takes the criticism, and is criticized for his inability to motivate his three employees.
Then, at Trump’s command, the facade of the boardroom is pulled away to reveal that the Trump Trio was onstage at the Lincoln Center in front of a cheering crowd. Trump admits even at this late date, he hasn’t made up his mind. So, with the help of Regis Philbin, Trump takes a poll of major business leaders, the audience and even a few familiar faces from the first season of the show. The opinions are overwhelmingly in Kelly’s favor.
Each candidate then gets one final chance to make their case on live TV. Jennifer M. says that she rose to the top of every organization she’s ever been a part of. Kelly cites his experience and consistency. Even though Jennifer M. has more to say, Trump cuts her off. It is The Donald’s turn to speak. Trump says that many of Jennifer M.’s teammates didn’t like her. He also says that he isn’t so sure Kelly will lead the way Trump would like him to lead. But finally, Donald looks at Jennifer M. and says… “You’re, fired.” Then Trump turns to Kelly, and speaks those oh-so-rare words, “You’re hired.” — And Kelly becomes The Apprentice!
After a live O’Jays rendition of “For the Love of Money,” the theme song of the show, Kelly has a choice to make. Donald has two massive construction projects that Kelly can be involved with. The first is Trump International Hotel and Tower, Las Vegas – a $500 million dollar structure that, when completed, will be the tallest luxury building in Vegas. The second is Trump Place, a $4 billion dollar project on Manhattan’s West Side that will be over a dozen city blocks long. In his first executive decision as The Apprentice, Kelly chose Trump Place. He says his goal had always been to learn from Trump and so he wants to stay in New York to do just that. Then, Kelly hops into his waiting limo to start a new chapter in his life as The Apprentice!

THE AMAZING RACE
Last week, 9 Teams set out from Norway and traveled to Sweden where they visited the ice bar as well as IKEA and had to do some tedious staff chores. Later, they had to unroll hay bales to search for a clue. It took Lena over 8 hours; in the middle of the night Phil met her and Christy in the field to tell them they’d been eliminated. This week, Hayden and Aaron and Kris and Jon start the race first. But can they keep their lead?
1st Clue: Teams must get to the top of Stockholm’s Town Hall Tower. The tower doesn’t open until 7 am, so teams must wait. Some of the teams (Jonathan/Victoria, Hayden/Aaron, and Kris/Jon) get the wrong info, and don’t show up to traverse the tower until 10am.
2nd Clue: Teams must travel to Dakar in Synagogue (Africa), where they will find the next clue outside of the airport. At this point, all teams arrive at the airport at the same time.
3rd Clue: Read and interpret a poem written by Leopold Sedar Senghor, and then find his grave. All teams encounter problems with the language barrier during this leg, especially in finding different locations and negotiating prices for cab fare. Don and Mary-Jean choose a cab that gets a flat tire. Luckily for them, the cemetery doesn’t open until 7:30am.
4th Clue: Teams must now travel 35 miles north to the village of Kayar, where they will search for a carpentry shop for the next clue.
DETOUR: Stack em up (walk to fish stacking area, carry a basket of fish to the stacking table, where they must be laid out to dry correctly to receive the next clue) or Pile em Up (walk down the beach, choose a fishing boat, and use traditional lines to catch four fish, give them to a guy on the dock for the next clue). On the way to stack em up, we find Jonathan has a passion for children (he gives candy to the little mulatto kids) and he and Victoria plan to have a baby. This couple needs therapy. Hera gets sick on the boat, and Don and Mary-Jean have trouble trying to snag a bite.
5th Clue: Travel by taxi to the pink lake called Lac Rose where the next clue will be found in the salt mounds.
ROAD BLOCK: Only one person may perform this task, and each teammate can compete in a maximum of 6 road blocks. Salt Harvest–wade into a lake and use traditional tools to harvest enough salt to fill a 35 gallon basket on shore. Some competitors get the salt in their eyes and must stop to relieve the pain and regain their vision. Adam (who looks as though he has big muscles) gets beat by all the girls. He tells Rebecca to shut up every time she gives him encouragement, and later threatens to jump off the boat when she says she didn’t appreciate it (last week he threatened to get hit by a train).
PITSTOP: Travel by taxi and ferry to the island Ile De Goree, where they must run through the streets and find their next pit stop. Jonathan and Victoria’s luggage gets stuck in their taxi’s trunk, and by the time the trunk is opened, they’ve missed the first ferry. Don is overwhelmed by Mary-Jean’s strength, and Gus definitely needs to put his shirt on. Order of arrival: Kris/Jon (win 7 night cruise through Western Caribbean), Jonathan/Victoria, Lori/Bolo, Hayden/Aaron, Freddy/Kendra, Adam/Rebecca, Gus/Hera, and finally Don/Mary-Jean, who are permitted to stay, but are stripped of all of their cash and will be denied any funds for the next leg. Next week: Can Don and Mary-Jean overcome the poor house? A tribute to African slaves brings Gus to tears and Lori/Bolo fight with Hayden/Aaron.
THE TEAMS:
Kris/John – Long distance dating for 1 year
Lori/Bolo – Married/Professional Wrestlers
Don/Mary Jean – Married/Grandparents
Hayden/Aaron – Dating/Actors
Gus/Hera – Father/Daughter
Jonathan/Victoria – Married/Entrepreneurs (He’s a dictator)
Freddy/Kendra – Engaged/Models (He’s 10 years older than her)
Adam/Rebecca – Ex/Lovers (trying to rekindle) Hell Boys
GONE HOME:
Avi/Joe – Best Friends (guys)
Meredith/Maria – Best Friends/Roommates
Lena/Kristy – Sisters/Models
THE APPRENTICE 2 Thursday, Sept. 9th, 2004
Last week the teams made candy bars and Sandy and Jen wore cute little red shirts, skirts, and heels, which won them the task. Ivana, who dropped her skirt for money, was unable to defend herself and was fired.
This week, I didn’t watch the whole thing, because job interviews aren’t my cup of tea. Go ahead and check the website if you want the details: http://www.nbc.com/nbc/The_Apprentice_2/. I can tell you that Kevin and Sandy were fired, leaving Jen M and Kelly as this season’s final two. After announcing the final two, Trump got them started on their final tasks: Kelly will manage the Genworth/Trump Polo Cup to help raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association and his employees would be Elizabeth, John and Raj. Jennifer M. will be in charge of the Genworth Charity Basketball Classic to raise money for the NBA’s Read to Achieve program and his employees would be Chris, Pamela and Stacy R
Each project manager would be judged by the same executive. Both competitors were whisked away to their event site by a chauffeur-driven Maybach. See what happens next week during the three hour Season Finale.

SURVIVOR:VANUATU – Thursdays – 9pm on CBS
Last week, Eliza won a car at the reward challenge and shared a trip to a resort with Ami and Chris. Chris, Eliza, Twila, and Scout remained allied forces and got rid of Ami. This week, Twila and Eliza have it out verbally. Basically Twila tells them all to go to hell, and to drop it. She’s obviously regretting her choice.
REWARD CHALLENGE: a mud pit, after which one will be eliminated, a pig catch, again one will be eliminated, then solve a tikki puzzle, where a final person will be eliminated. The last two must climb a ladder, traverse a balance beam, slide down a net, and then shoot a slingshot and break three places to light a fire, which will win the game. The winner will take a horse back ride and spend the night at mount assur, which includes food and drink.
First eliminated is Scout, followed by Eliza then Chris (who misplaces a puzzle piece). Twila has problems on the ladder and the net, and can’t make up time, practically handing the prize to Julie, who later selects Chris to go with her to Mount Yassur. They eat foot-long hotdogs and drink beer. Julie makes it clear that she doesn’t want to leave the game. Chris doesn’t tell her no, but rather leads her to believe that he’ll help get rid of Twila. Later, after dark, they hike up to the top of the volcano and watch miniature eruptions. It looks like fireworks. Both castaways are in awe.
Back at camp, Eliza and Twila argue over some buried bananas. Both parties call the other party immature. The whole issue really is immature. Even more immature is Chris’s move to tell Eliza that he’ll help her and Julie get rid of Twila.
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: Tribe members must listen to stories about some local natives, a Chief and a death ceremony, and then race to five of six different huts, assemble a puzzle and correctly answer questions relating to the stories. If correct, the tribe member obtains a white piece of husk to add to the necklace. If wrong, a black piece is obtained, which must be burned and the tribe member must go back for the right answer. Eliza and Julie are neck and neck going into their last question, but Eliza nails it and wins immunity.
TRIBAL COUNCIL: Chris is the swing vote for either Twila or Julie. In the end he sticks with the old chicks, who he can beat, and gets rid of Julie.
THE SEASON FINALE (Aired Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004 at 9:00pm)
We’re left with Chris, Twila, Scout, and Eliza at the end of two hours; one will be a million dollars richer. Right of the start, Twila calls Eliza out and tells her she’s useless. Chris comforts her though, and reassures her of their their alliance to each other. However, he also reassures his alliance of Scout and Twila.
At the second to last immunity challenge the final four compete in the first ever vertical maze, in which they must collect ten pairs of tiles. The tiles are letters that must be unscrambled for a two word answer. The race goes threefold, with Scout lagging really far behind. Chris and Twila collect their last pair at the same time. Chris is the first to solve the puzzle though, and wins his spot in the final three.
At tribal council we’re reminded that in the first immunity challenge of the season, Chris almost went home because he couldn’t make it across a balance beam. When the count is done Eliza votes for Twila. Twila reciprocates the vote. Scout and Chris join Twila and get rid of the youngest member left; Eliza joins the jury, but not without a death look for Chris.
Back at camp, everyone is relishing in the peace and quiet without Eliza, and Chris admires the stars. In accordance with tradition, the final three endure a rite of passage in which they travel to Aritoka Island, the most sacred island (and burial grounds) in Vanuatu. They will visit the snuffed torches of each of their former tribe mates and then they will then visit the burial site of the dead Vanuatu chief (from the story presented in the last episode), and make an offering. Following the ceremony, the castaways take part in their last immunity challenge, one of endurance and will power in which they stand, barefoote on two small blocks of wood (stumps) in the archer position, holding and bow and arrow ready to shoot. If the string of the bow is released, the arrow will pierce a marker and the castaway will forgo immunity. If at any time the tribe member’s feet touch the platform on which the blocks are set, the also will forgo immunity.
The sun starts to rise, and beads of sweat start to appear on the brows of our survivors. Scout is the first to pierce her marker and be eliminated. Twila continuously shakes on the stumps, and must fight to keep her balance, Chris does as well. Chris starts trying to make a deal, telling Twila that his word is good. Later, they both agree that it’s in their best interests (both) to stay on the posts. After an hour and seven minutes, Twila losses her balance and in an attempt to regain it, she end up piercing her marker. Chris is the first member of the final two. Chris plays the honesty card with Scout, and find out that Twila and Scout did NOT have a pact to go beyond the final four. Twila gave her alliance only to Chris, and he feels guilt that he doubted her. I wonder though, why Scout wouldn’t lie and say Twila did make a pact with her, so that Chris would take her to the final two.
At tribal council the jury enters and Eliza shoots Chris the death glare again. Chris admits Scout and Twila played the game very differently, ranging from passive honesty, to overly aggressive willingnessto do and say anything. However, he says he won’t use this to make his decision; he’ll only looks at how he’s played, because he has to make it to the end. That said, Chris votes off Scout, leaving Twila and Chris as the final two. In an attempt to enjoy their last moment at camp on the last day, Chris and Twila sit together in the hammock, and it snaps beneath their weight. Good stuff!
At the grand inquisition (the best part of every season), Chris sums up his qualifications as being the only one to overcome tremendous odds. Twila reciprocates by saying she deserves it because she played good and hard, and that she needs the million dollars to better her life. Eliza takes the floor and calls both competitors deceptive liars. Then she demands an apology from them. What a hypocrite. Julie cries. Leann convicts Twila for her deception and asks Chris why she should abandon her commitment to the women. Ami convicts Twila for her ability to falsely swear on her son but her inability to make a false apology to Eliza. Sarge tells Chris that Twila needs his help, and Chris reciprocates by saying it doesn’t matter because the two of them will sit and have drinks and be good friends regardless of the outcome of the game. Scout is classy for not convicting the final two, but rather accepting them for who they are.
In closing, Twila explains that she didn’t represent who she really is while playing the game; that the game changed her into a person she doesn’t like. Twila again, apologizes. Chris addresses each jury member separately and tells them that they each deserve to be in the final two more than he himself does. Chris explains to all the women that they’re sitting in the jury because he was selfish. He reiterates to Chad and Sarge that no matter how the vote goes, they’re still friends. Chris gets votes from Sarge and Eliza, while Twila gets one from Scout and Ami (of course, they’re both quite feminist). The votes from Chad, Julie, and Leann are left to be read out by Jeff, live, from the United States. This season Jeff goes bushwhacking, takes a plane ride, paraglides down to the ground and then takes a motorcycle into Hollywood to read the votes. Supreme Cheese. The final count is five to two for Chris.

THE AMAZING RACE
Last week, 10 teams departed from Iceland and arrived in Norway where teams lost clues and sunglasses and totally freaked out in general. Meredith and Maria suffered the most from their inability to drive a standard transmission vehicle, and were eliminated from the race. This week, Kris and John are the first to depart from the pit stop
1st Clue: Travel by bus and train 500 miles to Stockholm, Sweden. Find the Nordic Sea Hotel and go into the ice bar (a nightclub completely made of ice), for the next clue. Teams are halted at the train station, which doesn’t open until 6:00 am. Don and Mary Jean receive a departure penalty of 30 minutes for taking another team’s vehicle in the last leg. Gus and Hera get lost on their way to the bar.
2nd Clue: Enter the night club, and slide a shot glass along the bar and hit a target for the next clue. Both the bar and the shot glass are made of ice.
3rd Clue: Travel 9 miles to the world’s largest IKEA store, and search for the next clue. The IKEA does not open until 10am.
DETOUR: Count it (choose a series of three bins, and count every pot, pan, and stuffed animal. Once complete tell the “supervisor” who will provide the next clue. The total is 2,304 items), or Build it (Correctly build a desk using every part provided). The counting task makes everyone crazy; including the viewers. Kris and Jon keep their lead by choosing to build the desk. Lena and Kristy, despite being driven crazy with counting, are the first to complete the pots, pans, and animals task. Lori and Bolo and Don and Mary-Jean spend way too much time counting and recounting, and eventually must switch to the building task.
4th Clue: Travel by train 18 miles to Haggvik, and ride a tandem bicycle down a marked path 2 miles to a rural farm, where they’ll find the next clue. In the cab to the train station, Jonathan completely rips a strip off of his wife, and the rest of the teams are appalled.
YIELD: (Only 3 in the entire race) Teams have the choice to stop any other team from moving forward in the race for a predetermined period of time. However, each team can only use this option once.
ROAD BLOCK: Only one person may perform this task, and each team mate can compete in a maximum of 6 road blocks. This person must unroll massive bales of hay until they find the next clue. There are 270 hay bails, and only 20 clues. Again, more yelling from our friend Jonathan.
PITSTOP: Using the same tandem bike, teams must travel back to Haggvik station and take a train back to Stockholm. Teams must then find the AF Chapman, an old floating barracks for the Swedish Navy. This is the pit stop for this leg of the race.
Order of arrival: Hayden/Aaron (win seven night cruise to Mexican Riviera), Kris/John, Gus/Hera, Jonathan/Victoria, Adam/Rebecca, Lori/Bolo, and Don/Mary-Jean. Lena and Kristy argue about whether or not it’s worth putting more effort into the hay roll task, since they know they’re last. After over 8 hours of searching and the inability to find anything, and exhausted Lena and Kristy are eliminated from the race.
Next week: Lori and Bolo have it out, along with Adam and Rebecca, and Don is overwhelmed by his pride in Mary-Jean’s abilities.
THE TEAMS:
Kris/John – Long distance dating for 1 year
Lori/Bolo – Married/Professional Wrestlers
Don/Mary Jean – Married/Grandparents
Hayden/Aaron – Dating/Actors
Gus/Hera – Father/Daughter
Jonathan/Victoria – Married/Entrepreneurs (He’s a dictator)
Freddy/Kendra – Engaged/Models (He’s 10 years older than her)
Adam/Rebecca – Ex/Lovers (trying to rekindle) Hell Boys
GONE HOME:
Avi/Joe – Best Friends (guys)
Meredith/Maria – Best Friends/Roommates
Lena/Kristy – Sisters/Models
THE APPRENTICE 2 Thursday, Sept. 9th, 2004
Last week Jen was sent over to Mosaic to even out the teams, and later they created a new bottle and marketing campaign for Pepsi: Edge. Andy offered money to and withheld pizza from the design team. Mosaic’s ideas were impractical and they lost by a landslide. Andy was attacked in the boardroom, where failed to defend himself, and was fired.
This week, if you watched Wednesday’s special episode, you wasted your time. On Thursday, however, Sandy and Jen discuss the boardroom and the ability that the two of them have in being alone on a task. Early on we know it’s going to be a flaming competition.
THE TASK: Take M&Ms and create a new candy bar called “The M-Azing Bar.” The bars that pass inspection will be sold, by the teams. The team that makes the most money wins.
MOSAIC: Sandy is project manager. Jen is simply a business woman, no personal stuff. However, the girls have production problems, much to Carolyn’s dismay. When the inspection team comes in, they only have one tray of bars to wrap and sell. Their total is 290 bars. For the selling portion of the task, the girls dress as the “M&M sisters,” looking almost identical and totally sexual. They secured a marketing van from M&M which helps to draw people’s eye. The girls are awesome saleswomen, and get as much as five dollars a bar.
APEX: Ivana is project manager, but must compete with Kevin’s problem-solving capabilities. The team is very productive with a total of 323 bars and only 4 rejects. For selling, the team is not charismatic. Kevin is unable to sell bars and lowers the price to a buck a bar without Ivana’s permission. Later, a consumer tells Ivana that the girls are selling their bars for five bucks each and in reaction they go to the girls’ location and start selling them for less. Later, she calls the girls strippers and retaliates by dropping her own skirt for a gentleman who will pay twenty dollars a bar. Her own team criticizes her “technique.”
THE SCORES: Apex made $560.75. Mosaic made $1023.11. The girls get to board a Delta Jet and fly to Chicago to meet last season’s winner (Bill) and take a tour of the projects he’s been working on.
BOARDROOM: Since Kelly has immunity, Kevin and Ivana have a heart to heart prior to going in, about how much they respect one another. Trump says the team set the price too low, and that for having one person more than the other their production wasn’t up to snuff. When details are revealed, Ivana is criticized for tearing down her skirt and selling herself rather than chocolate. Trump’s associates are torn in terms of Ivana’s ability to step up and do something and her lack of self-respect. Ivana would fire Kelly, Kevin would fire Ivana, and Kelly would fire Ivana. As a project manager Ivana has lost twice, Kelly has won three times, and Kevin has won twice. Ivana has an outburst about how unfair it would be for Jen to be in the final four and not her. Later, Ivana and Kevin compare education and ability. Trump said he’s not hiring a stripper, or someone who loses too much. Ivana is fired.
Next week: No more teams. Despite being the project manager of the winning team, Sandy will not be given immunity from the boardroom. The final four fight it out in formal interviews and then a huge dog, or cat, fight in the boardroom and two people are fired. The following week will be the live grand finale.

Last week, Chris gushed about Scout and Twila’s attempt to betray the alliance, which caused all kinds of question and a total shift in loyalties. At the reward challenge everyone got to see their families, and Eliza won an overnight stay with her mom. We found out that both Ami and Scout are lesbians, and both female alliances schemed for Chris’s vote. In the end, Scout, Twila, Eliza, and Chris, got rid of Leann. This week, Ami criticizes Twila for making a promise on her son’s life, and then going back on it.
REWARD CHALLENGE: This week’s prize is a car, and a trip for the top three to a Vanuatu resort, overnight, with food and showers and everything. To win this, survivors must swim out, traverse a balance beam type obstacle course and dive down to retrieve three flags (three different trips out), return them to shore. The first three go on the retreat, and the first person to complete the task wins the car. Ami takes an early lead, but falls off the beam in the last leg, and lets Eliza pass her. Eliza comes in first, followed by Ami, and Julie and Chris fight for the last ticket to the resort… and Chris gets it. At the resort, Ami tries to recapture Eliza’s loyalty. Chris prevents it by telling her that if she sticks with him, they’ll only have to beat Scout and Twila, who are too old and out of shape to make it to the final two.
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: Survivor Shuffleboard. Slide disks onto a big map of the Vanuatu islands. At the end of the game, the person with the most pucks on “land,” wins. The highlight is when both Ami and Eliza knock themselves off of the board. Going in the last round it’s anyone’s game, but, Chris takes the lead with three points and wins immunity.
TRIBAL COUNCIL: It was a consensus in my house, where everyone watches the show, that it’s Ami’s turn to go. But, Eliza questions Twila’s loyalties, considering she did swear on her son that she’d vote with Ami and Julie. Eliza, wavers between getting rid of her friends (Julie and Ami), or her alliance (Scout, Twila, and Chris). Funny thing, Ami calls Twila out in front of the jury, and Twila says “screw you.” I’ve never laughed so hard in my life. Amy and Eliza enlighten the rest of the group on their feelings toward each other, and both are in tears. Would she cry about missing Ami if she wasn’t voting for Ami? In the end the vote is four for Ami, and two for Scout. The drama queen is evicted from her throne. Eliza really is smart, at least she booted Ami out while there was still SOME respect. I’m sure she’s got Ami’s vote from the jury.
Next week: Twila unleashes her dark side on Julie, and Eliza calls Twila out, much to Chris’s amusement.

THE AMAZING RACE
Last week, eleven teams set out for Iceland, from Chicago. Two of the couples, Lori/Bolo and Jonathan/Victoria were at each other’s throats the whole way, while Adam and Rebecca put the wrong fuel in their SUV and lost valuable time. Gus/Hera and Avi/Joe decided to work together, but when it was crunch time Avi and Joe lost their trust; they ended up arriving in last place and were sent home. This week, teams depart from Iceland. Haden and Aaron are the first to take off, while Gus/Hera are the last.
1st Clue: Fly 100 miles to Oslo, Norway and then drive 35 miles to Holmenkollen Ski Jump to find the next clue. All ten teams get on a single plane to Norway, with a short stop in Copenhagen. Jonathan and Victoria explode before their even out of the parking lot, and Meredith and Maria have a really hard time driving the standard SUV. They even use the word “can’t.” Later, they laugh about it.
ROAD BLOCK: Only one team member can perform this task (one team member can perform a maximum of 6 roadblocks in the entire race). This roadblock forces one person to climb to the top of the highest ski jump and ride a zip line 1000 ft to the bottom, to receive the next clue. It’s on the zip line that I realize Adam may either be homosexual, or a definite Momma’s boy. Mary-Jean gets mad at her 69-year-old husband for breaking their deal that she would do the tasks that didn’t require strength.
Jonathan physically pushes Victoria to get her out of his face, and then slams her head in the hatch of the SUV. He later tells her that she has problems that she needs to look inside herself and change. Even Lena and Kristy agree that Jonathan has issues.
2nd Clue: Drive 50 miles to a Viking village for the next clue. Once here, teams must divide into two teams of ten (five teams per boat), and race across a lake for their next clue. The boat with five young teams and the muscular wrestlers wins hands down, however, their only advantage for winning seems to be time. On the second boat, with aggressive Jonathan and emotional Meredith and Adam, we see some tears of frustration coming from Victoria.
Later, Adam blames his lost glasses on Rebecca, which also brings her to tears. At the train station she tells him that she’s losing her feelings for him, which brings him to tears. AND, Freddy and Kendra lose a piece of their clue on the road so they go back and take a second clue, which later incurs them a 30 minute penalty.
3nd Clue: Take a train 200 miles to the town of Voss, drive 5 miles to a marked bridge for the next clue. Don and Mary Jean get a senior’s discount.
DETOUR: Endurance (roller-ski 1.75 mile course to receive the next clue) or Accuracy (complete three traditional games–basically bowling with sticks, axe throwing, and archery–to receive the next clue). The roller-skiers have a hard time staying on their feet. Lori and Bolo even change their minds and go for Accuracy instead. Gus and Hera are the first to complete the detour, which is amazing since they were the last team to arrive on the last leg of the race. I’ve never heard so much useless bickering between a couple.
PITSTOP: After completing the roadblock, teams must drive to Nesheims Tunet, a 1000-year-old traditional farm in the Norwegian country side. The last team to check in MAY be eliminated (remember there are a few non-elimination rounds). Don and Mary-Jean take the wrong car–Adam/Rebecca’s, actually–and Lena and Kristy go the wrong direction.
Order of arrival: Kris/John (win cruise to Alaska), Jonathan/Victoria, Gus/Hera, Hayden/Aaron, Lori/Bolo, Adam/Rebecca, Don/Mary-Jean, Freddy/Kendra (after 30 minute penalty), Lena/Kristy, and finally Meredith/Maria are eliminated from the race.
Next week: Jonathan and Victoria reach the boiling point, and a grueling detour brings Lori/Bolo and Don/Mary-Jean to their knees.
THE TEAMS:
Kris/John – Long distance dating for 1 year
Lena/Kristy – Sisters/Models
Lori/Bolo – Married/Professional Wrestlers
Don/Mary Jean – Married/Grandparents
Hayden/Aaron – Dating/Actors
Gus/Hera – Father/Daughter
Jonathan/Victoria – Married/Entrepreneurs (He’s a dictator)
Freddy/Kendra – Engaged/Models (He’s 10 years older than her)
Adam/Rebecca – Ex/Lovers (trying to rekindle) Hell Boys
GONE HOME:
Avi/Joe – Best Friends (guys)
Meredith/Maria – Best Friends/Roommates
THE APPRENTICE 2 Thursday, Sept. 9th, 2004
Last week Mosaic sent Kelly to Apex (to even things up), and teams had to develop an in-store promotional catalogue. Maria and Wes clashed big time, while Ivana came up with an ingenious idea for a “fit wheel,” which won them a trip to see Billy Joel. Wes and Maria conflicted more in the boardroom, and Trump dramatically fired them both.
This week, the remaining competitors realize that they’re the final six. Sandy realizes she’s the only one left who does not have a college education. Ivana and Jen fight over the project manager decision. Ivana complains that she’s earned it, where Jen hasn’t, and that Jen keeps taking credit for Ivana’s work. But, they end up drawing names out of a hat, and Kelly gets it. Apex discusses who would leave (Jen is in the other room) if they had to give someone up, they decide they don’t really enjoy working with Jen.
When trump tells them to get rid of one team member, they immediately announce that Jen will go to Mosaic. It’s funny, everyone else kind of has their little persona developed, and whereas all we know about Jen is that she’s blonde. Come to think of it, we don’t really know Kevin either.
THE TASK: Head to Pepsi headquarters in Westchester, and design a new bottle and marketing campaign for Pepsi Edge. As determined by the creative guy from Pepsi, the team with the best campaign wins.
MOSAIC: Sandy, Andy, and Jen develop a tag line (“The edge of both worlds’), and a purchasing incentive (collect bottle caps from different countries and once you have all the countries on one continent, you win a trip to that continent). Andy drinks lots of Pepsi, and gets extremely hyper. In connection with their travel theme, Sandy comes up with a bottle shape that’s spherical (like a planet). However, Jen M feels that it would be too hard to grip.
Andy gets annoyed with the turtle speed of the design team, and offers them each a hundred dollars as an incentive. Later, the pizza comes, and Andy refuses to let anyone eat until the deadline is met. In the presentation, all three team members lose their speaking abilities and mostly embarrass themselves.
APEX: Ivana is immediately thrilled to be rid of Jen, and later her mind wanders to sexual issues in the design room. Kelly (PM) designs a bottle that has a hole in it. The team is very casual and calm, and it makes them think they’ve forgotten something. They’ve carved “edge” into the side of their bottles.
THE SCORES: The presentation is done in an amphitheatre, in front of Pepsi’s entire marketing team. Mosaic’s presentation is more inclusive, more details, however, their idea of putting globes on their bottles is lame. Apex is simple, innovative, and eye catching. On the basis of creativity, Apex wins. As a reward, they board Trump’s personal helicopter to the race track, where they’ll race Lamborghinis. Kelly, as the project manager, is exempt from the boardroom next week, and thus has become the first member of the final four.
BOARDROOM: The executives totally smash the globe idea. Andy says Sandy was the least creative, which Sandy argues against wholeheartedly. He later says that Jen is smarter. I think Andy has a crush on Jen, because I didn’t see her do anything. Sandy reveals Andy’s choices to withhold the pizza to the design team, and to offer them cash incentives. Trump criticizes the team’s inability to stay united after a loss.
Carolyn questions Jen’s ability to fly under the radar. Jen and Sandy argue about who did a better job. They totally bicker in front of the executives. I don’t understand half the stuff they say; the girls have gone completely ultrasonic. Andy is criticized for taking all the crap the girls dish out, and being unable to defend himself (he’s a debating champion, remember). Andy is fired. After taking some time to think, he leaves the boardroom, and Trump announces that Women are tougher than men… Nice.
Next week: TWO episodes will air. The first will be a “never seen before” footage thing, and in the second we find out who can sell the most chocolate. Sandy and Jen use sex appeal, but Ivana drops her skirt.

Last week, after winning a random picked team reward, Chad, Chris, Eliza, and Amy experienced some cultural treats including some half-raw cow, and alcohol that goes to Chad’s head. The rest of the tribe, however, was left at camp to experience a rain storm. After Twila won immunity, Scout tried to sway her vote to align with the guys to oust Eliza. In the end, however, the women stuck together and got rid of Chad.
This week, Chris is the only guy left, which immediately reveals Scout’s manipulative ways. The women turn around and question Chris’s motive to do this. When questioned, Twila throws the blame in Scout’s direction. Later, Scout is questioned too, and she lies saying that everything was Chad’s idea. Leann and Ami opt not to take Scout to the final four.
REWARD CHALLENGE: Score points by answering questions about the past correctly. Highest score wins.
The prize: 1 hour real time email chat with a loved one from home (webcam). Of course, Probst gives each of them a one minute taste. Twila sees her son, and breaks down completely. Leanne sees her best friend, Eliza sees her mother, Julie sees her good friend Justin, Scout sees her life partner Annie (I didn’t know Scout was a lesbian), Ami sees her girlfriend Krissy (lesbian as well?), Chris sees his girlfriend Laurie and expresses quite a bit of emotion and we find out that the couple is to be married.
The challenge questions are as follows.
1. In the 7th immunity challenge, who broke the most tiles? (Rory)
2. In the great escape challenge, who was the first man to begin assembling his ladder? (Chad)
3. In the 2nd immunity challenge, blindfolded puzzle search, who sat out? (Dolly)
4. In the first immunity challenge, there were four symbols used in the puzzle, identify them (Pig Head, Coconut Tree, Volcano, Palm Tree)
After question 4, Chris and Twila have 3, everyone else tied at 6.
5. In the first reward challenge, which survivor fell into the water the most? (John K)
Julie and Eliza are now tied at 7.
6. (Sudden death) in the 3rd reward challenge (memory game); name the matching pairs of Items. She who names the most wins. Julie’s mind draws blank, and Eliza wins with grapefruit.
BUT, the twist–instead of just an online chat, Eliza’s mom gets to spend the night with the survivors. All the family members come out, and embrace their respective survivors. I still don’t know who is hetero versus homosexual though, because there are no passionate kisses. Eliza and her mom aren’t exciting people; it’s totally boring, until mommy leaves Eliza with the shirt off her back (it has sleeves), and travels home in her bra. Later, Ami gives Twila hell for not exposing her conversations with Chad and Chris. I don’t know what they’re so worried about though, if they’ve already decided that Ami, Leann, Julie, and Eliza will be the final four, they’ve got the numbers to pick off the other three easily.
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: Run in pairs (Surprise! It’s each one with their family member) Each pair is designated a colour, loved ones are blindfolded, survivors verbally direct their loved ones through a rock-like maze to retrieve three bags of puzzle pieces. Once all are retrieved, blindfolds are removed and the first team to assemble their puzzle wins immunity. Yeah, Scout and Ami are definitely both lesbians (Who knew?). Ami and Krissy are the first to finish retrieving the bags, followed by Chris and Laurie. Scout and Annie, are then added, followed by Justin and Julie, Twila and James. Ami and Krissy win.
TRIBAL COUNCIL: Before they leave, we find out the mystery of the women’s bickering. Ami, Leann, Julie, Twila, and Scout convene in the woods and debate as to whether to get rid of Chris or Eliza. They all agree that Chris deserves to stay more than Eliza does, but they can’t risk his ability to win future immunity challenges. Nevertheless, they decide to ditch Eliza and go tell Chris the good news. Chris tells the camera that he’s living in a tornado… he doesn’t do a damn thing to change the game, but somehow he’s off the chopping block. Then Twila and Chris talk about getting Scout and Eliza on board to get rid of the powerful three. Chris then goes to Eliza, who suggests that Scout and Twila may be lying to the both of them.
At tribal council, Sarge and Chad (the jury) are brought in. If I get what I want, the vote should be four to three for Leann over Eliza. In the end, Leann goes home (serves her right for not giving her all at the immunity challenge). I’m glad it happened this way because I was scared what the show would come to, with half a dozen women alone on an island. However, now that we know two of them are homosexual, it might get interesting when it comes down to alliances.
Next week: The women bicker some more, and a surprise is granted at the reward challenge.

THE AMAZING RACE
This season’s 11 teams are listed below. For those who haven’t seen the show before, the gist is that eleven teams set out from somewhere in the US, and race through multiple legs around the world in which they must follow clues, and compete in detours (choice of two culture-specific tasks) and roadblocks (one predetermined team member must complete a task alone). There are also options to fast-forward (complete one task that allows teams to skip everything else and go directly to the next pit stop) or to yield another team (force them to stop playing for a predetermined period of time). At the end of each leg, teams meet at a pit stop, where they are forced to rest for twelve hours.
Teams start out in Chicago but quickly depart to Iceland. Immediately I’m voting that Jonathan goes home. He’s egotistical and extremely arrogant. This guy definitely doesn’t have an inferiority complex. I find it humorous that his girlfriend calls him an idiot. Many of the teams get on the phone prior to getting to the airport, which to me seems useless because the three possible flights all land within five minutes of each other.
Jonathan/Victoria, Adam/Rebecca, Lori/Bolo, Kris/John are on the flight that connects through Minneapolis. Freddy/Kendra, Don/Mary Jean, Lena/Kristy, Meredith/Maria are on the flight that connects through Baltimore. Gus/Hera, Hayden/Aaron, and Avi/Joe are on the flight that connects through Boston, which is delayed 45 minutes because of the weather.
Once in Reykjavik, teams must chose a car and read clue on steering wheel. Read 130 miles to Sel Jalansfdso Waterfall, follow path behind torrent of water for next clue. Everyone seems to get lost on their way to the waterfall. Meredith and Maria follow a vehicle that had already been to the waterfall, and end up an hour and a half out of their way.
Teams must now drive 260 miles to Europe’s largest glacier Vatnajokuli, and sign up for the glacier shuttle, which will take them 10 miles to the glacier’s edge. On the way there, teams speed way too much in their SUVs, and Hera and her father try to keep calm.
Teams must now ride a snowmobile 2.5 miles across the glacier to a camp site. Once they arrive they must search the tents for departure times that will return them to land the next day. The tent from which they rip the ticket off, is the one in which they’ll spend the night. There are four departure times: 10am, 10:30am, 11am, and 11:30am. After spending the night in a tent on a glacier, teams must drive themselves 20 miles to Glacier Ice Beach to find their next clue.
DETOUR: Ice climb (travel 35 miles, put on special gear, trek across a glacier, and then use picks to climb an ice wall), or ice search (travel short distance to lagoon, choose a boat and driver, and search for a clue attached to a buoy in seven square miles of water). Avi/Joe, Gus/Hera, and Jonathan/Victoria are the only ones to try the ice search; everyone else attempts the ice wall.
PITSTOP: After completing the detour teams must drive themselves 200 miles to The Blue Lagoon. The last team to check in will be eliminated. On their way, Adam and Rebecca fill their SUV with diesel instead of regular gasoline, and must wait to have their tank emptied. Gus/Hera and Avi/Joe take a wrong turn somewhere, and end up across the lake from the pit stop. Avi and Joe choose not to trust the father/daughter team and go into a building to search for more clues.
In order of arrival: Hayden/Aaron (win trip to Hawaii), Kris/John, Lena/Kristy, Freddy/Kendra, Jonathan/Victoria, Lori/Bolo, Adam/Rebecca, Meredith/Maria, Gus/Hera. Avi and Joe’s choice not to trust the other team put them in last place, and they’re eliminated from the race. They’re extremely shocked, to be in last place.
Next week: Meredith/Maria has car trouble, Jonathan and Victoria continue to fight, and Adam/Rebecca’s relationship is pushed beyond the breaking point.
THE TEAMS:
Kris/John – Long distance dating for 1 year
Lena/Kristy – Sisters/Models
Lori/Bolo – Married/Professional Wrestlers
Don/Mary Jean – Married/Grandparents
Hayden/Aaron – Dating/Actors
Gus/Hera – Father/Daughter
Jonathan/Victoria – Married/Entrepreneurs (He’s a dictator)
Freddy/Kendra – Engaged/Models (He’s 10 years older than her)
Meredith/Maria – Best Friends/Roommates
Adam/Rebecca – Ex/Lovers (trying to rekindle) Hell Boys
GONE HOME:
Avi/Joe – Best Friends (guys)
THE APPRENTICE 2 Thursday, Sept. 9th, 2004
Last week teams created a bridal shop, and Mosaic massacred Apex. Chris made the mistake of letting Jennifer off the hook, and as a result was fired. This week, Trump asks Mosaic to send one member to Apex. They choose Kelly.
THE TASK: Develop an in store promotional catalogue for Levi. Catalogues will be judged by one of Levi’s executives, and the most creative and inspirational team will win.
MOSAIC: Wes is project manager. Maria and Sandy have conflicting ideas about what the layout should be and later Maria takes too much control during the photo shoot. She even shrugs off Andy’s comments. Later, she and Wes get right into it and when she tells Wes to back off, he does. Later, the whole team criticizes Maria’s attitude. Wholly conflict. It’s disgusting. Then, Maria cries and apologizes. Later, she overly dominates the presentation, and then tells the evaluators that the jeans were too loose-fitting.
APEX: Kevin is project manager. Ivana creates a rotating wheel that she calls a “jean selector,” which confuses Jennifer. Instead of using models, the team takes pictures of themselves. Jennifer M gets everyone’s attention with her hair, makeup, and tight jeans, however, Kevin later calls her virtually useless. Later, Kevin, Kelly, and Ivana criticize Jennifer in front of Carolyn. In the presentation, Kevin comes off overly aggressive, mostly because of the sweat pouring off his face. Later, Jen tries to answer questions that are directed at Ivana, and ends up giving the wrong answers.
THE SCORES: Apex apparently isn’t as sexy as they’d like, however their project is generally better than Mosaic’s, who managed to only accomplish the sexy aspects. Robert also chooses Jen as the best team member, much to Ivana’s distaste. As a reward, Apex gets to go see the Broadway show “Moving Out,” and spend a lot of time with Billy Joel, listening to his music.
BOARDROOM: Maria is criticized for her choice not to show off the model’s butt, and for kicking a team mate out of the room. Andy criticizes Wes for not keeping control of Maria. Sandy refers to Bill by his first name, without his permission, which is a strike against her. Andy is criticized for his quietness, to which he responds that it’s more important to listen than to talk. Good move. Wes decides to bring all three of his team mates back into the board room.
Maria is a handful, but Wes is unable to control his team. Surprisingly, BOTH are fired!!!!!!
Next week: The feuds continue, the final six fend for themselves and must design a new Pepsi bottle and present it to a large group of executives, and one apprentice advances to the final four.

Last week the men were deceived by an all encompassing woman’s alliance, a pig came to stay at the camp, and the pecking order was revealed when Leann won reward, which she shared with Julie. Ami won immunity. The men saw a weakness between Eliza and Scout, but could do nothing about it, so Chris voted for Sarge in an attempt to save himself with the women.
This week, Chris lies and tells everyone that Sarge asked him to vote for him but then tells the camera that he did it to get further in the game. Scout expresses her fear that Ami and Leann have replaced she and Twila with Julie. She goes to the men, and asks them to help her get rid of Eliza.
REWARD CHALLENGE: The team is divided into two (Chris, Chad, Eliza and Ami versus Scout, Twila, Julie and Leann). Each mini-tribe competes in an obstacle course with one tribe member attached to a robe and bound by the hands. The other three tribe members must maneuver the “sacrificial member” through the different obstacles. The obviously stronger team (the guys and two young women) wins without question or competition from the other team.
The prize: Cultural activities with a local tribe, including a big feast. The pig that was given to the tribe last week is presented to the local tribe. In return, the tribe gives our castaways a pig, which they seem to forget at the festivities when they leave. The team is given Kava, the ceremonial alcohol, which has mouth numbing effects on everyone, and totally intoxicates Chad. The feast includes a meat, partially raw, which castaways eat with their hands. The dancing, however, is very intoxicating and the song sung by the little kids is quite moving.
When the winning team returns to camp, the rest of the tribe gives them little welcome since they got rained on all night and were totally drenched.
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: Survivors must hang onto a post for as long as they can with no foothold, just small lips made of rope. Last one whose feet touch the ground wins. Julie’s out first; followed by Chris, Scout, Ami, Eliza, and Leann. This leaves Chad and Twila to battle it out. Chad starts to slip, and can’t gain a foothold–remember he has an artificial leg–and ends up handing immunity to Twila.
TRIBAL COUNCIL: Scout, Twila, and the boys plan to get rid of Eliza, but Ami insists on getting rid of Chad first. Just before tribal council, however, Twila and Scout refuse to give the boys their word. Twila confronts Ami, and then turns around and tells Scout that the rest of the girls won’t vote for Eliza. Twila doesn’t want it to come down to a tie. In the end, the women stuck together and got rid of Chad, leaving Chris alone with six girls.
Next week: Scout and Twila’s plot are revealed by Chris to the rest of the tribe.

THE AMAZING RACE
The new season will begin Tuesday, Nov. 16th, 2004.
THE APPRENTICE 2 Thursday, Sept. 9th, 2004
Last week, Raj was fired for knocking out a wall in a four bedroom home and hiring a contractor that couldn’t finish the job. Chris couldn’t keep his hostility toward the team quiet, and was nominated to be the next project manager for Apex.
This week, Chris begins the episode by trying to fix the hostilities within his team. On Mosaic, everyone wants to be project manager, but since no one can decide, they draw, again.
THE TASK: At Tavern on the Green (a restaurant in the middle of Central park), Trump tells the teams that they will be taking an empty space and creating a bridal shop. In a one time bridal sale of four hours, the team with the highest sales wins. Reminder: Sandy’s business is a bridal shop.
MOSAIC: Kelly is project manager, and Sandy is on this team. The plan is to have other retailers negotiate offers for outdated wares and solicit women who are registered to be married to attend their “sale.” Sandy, Andy and Kelly go into existing bridal shops and offer to take all of their “discontinued gowns,” which turns into a very successful strategy. In the meantime, Wes and Maria are left alone to do all of the marketing chores. Over 23,000 emails go out to brides in the area, but the ad had no contact information on it.
Later, Maria is found to be responsible for sending the ad without a phone number. When picking up the dresses, not only does Wes smash the van into a truck parked on the side of the road, but when they open up the back, the dresses have been tossed all over. Sandy gives Kelly crap for having her do too much.
APEX: Chris is project manager. His strategy is to pack the space with people who already sell bridal wear, which he is unable to do. When he finds this out, he throws in the towel. Jennifer M, however, takes control, and makes contact with quite a few vendors. She becomes quite agitated with Chris’s disinterest in the bridal field. In the meantime, Ivana and Kevin meet with an expert who agrees to help them in any way she can.
THE SCORES: The video footage of each team’s consumer base is hilarious. Mosaic had a line up all the way down the block prior to opening their doors, while Apex had only 3 customers. Mosaic sold 27 dresses for a profit of $12,788.94, while Apex only sold 2 dresses for a profit of $1,060.47. Mosaic’s reward is to go to Graff Jewelers (where Trump bought his fiancée’s wedding ring) where they will be allowed to select $50,000 dollars worth of merchandise.
BOARDROOM: Before even going into the boardroom, there is agreement within the teammates’ and my own mind that it’s time for Chris to go. I hope it’ll be quick and painless. After discussion about the team’s apparent disadvantage (which Carolyn says do not exist), Chris selects Jen to go back to the suite, claiming that she did the best on the task.
Before round two, George, Carolyn, and Trump discuss the lack of effort of everyone on the team. Carolyn suggests that they all should be sent home. In the waiting room, Kevin and Ivana criticize Chris for letting Jennifer go back up to the suite. During round two, the comment is made that Ivana has been found in the boardroom quite a few times. Her retaliation is that Chris complains too much, to which Kevin agrees. Trump attacks Chris for his big mouth last week, and his choice to save Jennifer. Chris is fired.
Next week: Eight remain; the competition gets personal, a revealing task including models, a guest appearance by Billy Joel, and a boardroom session that doesn’t end.

Last week, Rory expressed concern about being the only male on his tribe, right before the tribal merge. Sarge won the first individual immunity, after which the tribe named themselves Alinta, and feasted in celebration. Amy expressed her certainty of an all-woman alliance, which was verified when Rory was voted out six to four.
This week, Twila admits that she heard that the guys told both herself and Julie that they’d go with them to the final four, while Sarge expresses his hurt and remorseful feelings. Scout sings, and the creative designers of the show play music of doom along with her voice. It’s morbid.
REWARD CHALLENGE: Using a generic answer cube, tribe members must answer questions about the Vanuatu culture. Each question answered correctly permits a tribe member to light another’s torch. Each member has three torches; when all three are lit the castaway is eliminated. Sarge is the first eliminated, followed by Chad, Chris, Eliza (who reacts with malice), Julie, Scout, Ami, and Twila, leaving Leann the winner of the challenge.
The prize: a helicopter ride of a lifetime to the top of a volcano and some wicked views, and a picnic of champagne and chicken wings. But, the trip isn’t much fun alone, so Leann takes Julie. She later explains that her choice stems from her uncertainty about where Julie’s head was in terms of the game.
On the peak of a volcano, Julie and Leann strategize to align themselves against everyone else, possibly to get rid of Eliza immediately. Back at camp, Scout and Eliza bicker about the results of the reward challenge, and the guys see an opportunity to either talk the girls into getting rid of Eliza or to permit Eliza to join their own little clique.
When Leann and Julie return on a helicopter, they relish that the guys are away from camp, and reveal chicken wings that they brought back just for the women. Later, they tell the boys that they brought back only the bones… And then Eliza catches a pig, a little white one with black spots, or rather, retrieves it with the team’s tree mail. The letter along with it says that they can’t eat him, but rather have to take good care of him.
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: Puzzles. Actually, one puzzle in different configurations. Those who fail to complete the puzzle within the time limit are not permitted to move on to the next round. In round one, Chad, Chris, and Sarge are eliminated. In round two, Scout and Twila are eliminated. In round three Eliza is eliminated. In round four Julie and Leann are both eliminated and Ami wins immunity.
TRIBAL COUNCIL: Ami openly admits that she will vote for Sarge, because he is the strongest man, and at this point does not have immunity. Scout talks with Chad and Chris about getting rid of Eliza, and Eliza chats with Ami about her own paranoia. Twila and Sarge have it out as well about their own loyalties to each other and the mutual blame ends up on Julie. Twila expresses her regrets about letting the men down. Then Twila and the men contemplate joining with Eliza to get rid of the rest of the women first.
Before the revealing process, we find Chris voted for Sarge. In the end the vote is seven for Sarge, one for Julie and one for Eliza. Sarge becomes the first member of this season’s jury.
Next week: lots of rain, Scout makes a move to amalgamate the guys and girls.

THE AMAZING RACE
The new season will begin Tuesday, Nov. 16th, 2004.
THE APPRENTICE 2 Thursday, Sept. 9th, 2004
Last week Andy stepped up as project manager for Mosaic, and succeeded in the NYC Police ad campaign task, but Elizabeth failed terribly and was fired. This week…
THE TASK: Go out to the suburbs, choose one of two dilapidated houses. With $20,000, renovate the house, a team of highly qualified appraisers will inspect each house and the house with the biggest increase in property value will win. Twist: For this task, the first four people who were fired will return to teach the teams how to work with people they don’t like. Rob and Jennifer joined Mosaic and Bradford and Stacey joined Apex. Immediately the drama starts with both Stacey (who was deemed “crazy” by Ivana) and Jennifer (who feels Ivana should have went, not her). Ivana seems to be the center of the chaos.
MOSAIC: Sandy is selected as project manager, for the first time in the game. Rob works his little butt off, to show everyone that he is a hard worker. Sandy has big issues with the contractors, which makes her cry. Andy meets some guys on the street, who he hires to do the contracting, and then, they contractors take over the renovations. Everyone seems to be happy with the results.
APEX: Raj is selected as project manager. Immediately, Jen begins to confront Raj about his decisions to take out walls. Raj fights back with equal power. Later we see Raj and his team knocking down the wall, with their bodies. Later, Raj has even bigger problems with his contractor, who sits to have a sandwich, with a big smile on his face, half an hour before the bathroom has to be in. When Carolyn stops by the check in, the team is in complete chaos. Raj asked for a completely new bathroom upstairs, and the contractor simply fixed what was already there, and tracked paint all over the new carpet. When showing the home, Raj virtually hangs himself with comments made to the appraisers.
THE SCORES: Apex had an increase of 7.14%. Mosaic, however, increased their value by 10.26%, and was granted the privilege to see the home of Trump’s friend, Denise Rich, in the Hamptons, with a helicopter as the chauffer.
BOARDROOM: Ivana and Jen have it out about Ivana’s productivity prior to going into the board room, with Jen intending to back Raj in his belief that Ivana is the weakest link. Raj is criticized for his choice of contractor, and his choice to change a four bedroom home into a three. However, Bradford speaks up and says that Kevin chose the contractor. It is formally said that Stacey, formerly convicted of being crazy, did a wonderful job on this task. Ivana, however, openly criticizes Stacey. Raj holds Ivana and Kevin partially responsible for the team’s loss.
Before leaving the boardroom, however, Chris insists on opening his mouth about the lack of chemistry that the team has. He is openly criticized for this comment by both Trump and Carolyn. Raj, however, sticks to his choice to send Chris back up to the suite. Trump and Chris agree that Chris will be the project manager for the next task.
In round two, Raj and Kevin argue about Kevin’s choice of contractors. Ivana holds her ground that she is a hard worker, but Ivana turns around and tells Trump that Raj needs supervision. Trump criticizes Raj for making a bad decision on the contractor, knocking down the wall, and not bringing Chris into the boardroom after he made a stupid comment. After a very short boardroom session, Raj is fired, and goes out into the lobby to hit on Trump’s secretary.
Next week: Big mouth Chris is forced to take management of a bridal salon, there’s a car accident, and another wicked boardroom experience.

Last week Lopevi got sick of John’s lazy attitude and Rory made ultimate attempts to break into the woman’s alliance. Yassur won immunity, which included some pictures from home. Rory won the immunity challenge for Yassur, causing a huge backlash at Lopevi. At tribal council, the guys trusted Julie and Twila and the tribe voted out John.
This week, when Lopevi gets back from tribal council, Julie sits down between Lea’s (Sarge) legs. Later, we see her flirting with all the guys, and it ends up with Sarge and Julie, removing their pants, apparently just to suntan.
At Yassur, Rory complains about the women’s laziness, to the point of calling themselves useless. He admits that he can’t wait for the merger, which is an excellent source of foreshadowing for what is to come. When the teams gather for the first challenge, Scout opens her mouth about missing Twila, which the men take as a sign of Twila’s commitment to a “woman’s tribe.”
REWARD CHALLENGE: Tribe members must retrieve water in an assembly line procedure; however, the buckets of water must be thrown from one tribe member to another until the second last person must throw only the water, to be caught by the last person in a second bucket. The last person then must climb a tower and fill a third, larger bucket. When the bucket is full enough, it will drop, and a flame on the other end of a pulley system will rise and light the tower. The first team to light the tower wins a huge chocolate cake, chocolate chip cookies, and a jug of milk. Yassur has no hope in hell of winning, as Lopevi takes an immediate and vast lead. Lopevi wins reward; the sugar later makes Sarge feel ill.
Prior to the immunity challenge, Jeff instructs everyone to drop their buffs and announces a merger. The new team decides to live on the former Lopevi beach.
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: Starting from the beach, castaways must swim out to a water tower, climb it, traverse a balance beam, grab a flag and swim with it back to shore. The first two (heats of 5) to retrieve three flags, move on to the final heat, in which the fastest will win individual immunity. Eliza and Sarge as well as Ami and Rory advance to the final heat, which is then dominated by Sarge, who is granted individual immunity.
The united tribe returns to camp and finds a feast of cheese and crackers, left over chocolate cakes, etc. They celebrate, name the tribe (Alinta: Fire maker), paint a new flag and mini alliances start to converse about what all has happened in the previous tribes.
Rory reveals information that Amy seems to be in control of the women’s alliance and the men plot to get rid of her. Rory, however, expresses his concern about Julie and Twila’s allegiance. Sarge expresses his premonition that the race might turn into a battle of the sexes.
TRIBAL COUNCIL: Twila insists to her alliance (Lopevi) that they’d like to get rid of Rory before any of the women (Ami, specifically) because he is physically stronger than any of the women. The men, however, want to ditch Ami first.
Ami insists that Twila and Julie are still part of the women’s alliance. When the tribe leaves for tribal council, everything seems to be up in the air. In the end, however, four votes went to Ami, while Rory received six. All three remaining men sat with open jaws, as Rory’s torch was snuffed.
Next week: The girls get all cuddly and the castaways get a new pet, a pig.

THE APPRENTICE 2 Thursday, Sept. 9th, 2004
Last week teams got the reshuffle and then were forced to clean up dog poop. Mosaic lost the task and Apex got to spend time with mayor of New York City, Michael Bloomberg. Stacy was told that she bitched too much instead of stepping up and making changes, and was fired.
This week, Andy immediately feels the brunt of having no experience, as Trump’s selected business people are surprised and angry to see him return from the boardroom.
THE TASK: Via live video conferencing, Trump called the candidates from his private jet. The teams learn that they’ll be working at Deutsch Advertising, where they’ll create an ad campaign. The teams head over to the agency and meet with Donny Deutsch, the owner of the company, who tells them that their task is specifically to develop a recruitment campaign for the New York City Police Department.
MOSAIC: Andy, who is finally provided the opportunity to be project manager, encounters conflict with Maria. She was concerned about attracting their young, target audience. She told Andy that they needed to infuse more sex appeal into the campaign. But Andy stood his ground and stayed true to his initial vision.
APEX: Near the end of the day, Elizabeth, who is also chosen at random to be Project Manager; is not happy with the concept that she had agreed to at the beginning of the day. Kevin offered to help come up with a new concept that could be used with all of the footage they had. The two worked into the night and came up with a new idea. Afterwards, Elizabeth said she wouldn’t change her mind again, even though she knew that the others on the team might not be happy with the change. As expected, Raj felt that the ads didn’t have enough strength and Elizabeth backed off the idea.
When Elizabeth went back to the original idea, thus implying Kevin’s wasted effort, he tells the camera that his project manager sucks. Jennifer M. went so far as to suggest a coup. She said that the team should fire Elizabeth as Project Manager. However, the group didn’t follow through on the threat. As Apex finished up their campaign, conflict ran high. Kevin said that Elizabeth was trying to put band aids on the military campaign. Kevin said that if you’re going to do the military campaign then you should just do the best one you can. Raj completely disagreed with what Elizabeth was doing with the text she was adding to the still images for their posters. He felt it had nothing to do with the themes they were trying to get across.
THE SCORES: Determined by the company owner, Donny, Mosaic won by a landslide. Trump congratulated Mosaic and told them that since they had done something for the City of New York, the city would return the favor; as their reward, Mosaic were driven to Times Square where they got to see their ad played in public on the jumbo screen.
BOARDROOM: After Apex entered the boardroom, everyone gave an honest rendition of Elizabeth’s failure as a project manager. Donald asked Elizabeth whom she would bring back into the boardroom to face the firing, and Elizabeth said she’d bring Raj and Chris. But Trump thought for a moment and then stunned everyone by saying, “Honestly Elizabeth, I don’t think it’s necessary. You’re fired.”

Last week Yassur got rid of Lisa, based on a rumor Ami started about deception and mistrust, instead of keeping the women’s alliance strong and getting rid of Rory, who refused to do any work as he knew he’d figured on going home. This week, we see Rory beg for his life and when that doesn’t work, he makes threats.
REWARD CHALLENGE: One tribe member at a time must hurry to open coconuts, and then race with the juice through a wood crawl, seesaws, wood hurdles and a grid box to deposit the juice into the receiving jar. Once the jar is filled, the last member must carefully carry it to the finish line. The first tribe to deliver their full jar wins the Reward: some time at Vanuatu Home Café, enjoying coffee, juices, treats and some love from back home. The winning tribe is also allowed to bring a coffee maker and some coffee back to camp. After filling Yasur’s jar, Leann almost trips to single-handedly lost the Challenge; however, she finds her feet and brings the full jar across the finish line to secure Yasur’s reward.
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: each tribe is equipped with a pouch of marbles and a slingshot. In turn, each tribe member must take a shot at a ceramic tile grid. The first tribe to break all twenty tiles wins Immunity. As the competition began, Lopevi gained a small lead. After Yasur overtook the lead with the sharp shooting of Rory, John missed his tile, squandering an opportunity for Lopevi to narrow the conflict. With only one tile left for victory and desperately needing Immunity to stay on the island, Rory aimed his slingshot and announced, “This one’s for my baby boy.” Rory launched the marble and watched it crash through that final tile, securing himself at least three more days on the island of Vanuatu.
TRIBAL COUNCIL: John, whom them men consider lazy, lobbies Chris and Twila to get rid of Chad, however admits to the camera that it is himself who’s most likely to depart. In the end, John figured out where he stood; he suffers a five-to-one vote that expels him from his tribe.

THE APPRENTICE 2 Thursday, Sept. 9th, 2004
Last week Pamela was tossed to the women’s team for the QVC TV marketing task. In the end, the men still won by a mere ten dollars. In the boardroom, the blame was placed on Maria but, Trump criticized Pamela’s inability to read people, and fired her. This week, everyone bursts with excitement that the “ice queen” is gone. Afterward, the women start picking on Elizabeth and her rambling.
THE TASK: Using the resources of Trump Model Management, teams must produce a new clothing line. First they must pick a designer, and then use models to show the fashion at Avon Fall Fashion Show. In choosing a task like this, I believe that Trump is attempting to give the women a hand up; the task is to design a women’s fashion line, after all.
APEX: Project manager Maria immediately decides to hire Darren as their designer. She quickly gets rid of Elizabeth by sending her to analyze the buyers. In the fabric shop, Elizabeth reappears to create noise, and Ivana shuts her up. On day two, the women see their designs on the racks, and turn into nine-year-old girls playing dress up. On the runway, we find the women have kept their line really simple and contemporary.
MOSAIC: John is selected (randomly as always) as project manager. They choose a female designer, but when she goes to the bathroom, Kelly starts making clothing sketches of his own… which everyone loves! When the guys pick out fabrics, Carolyn spends her time laughing, tremendously. Kelly, rather than John, controls the situation and gets things done. The guys invite the models over and do nothing but giggle like little school girls. Their designer only shakes her head. On day two, they realize they’re not close to finished, and then realize that Raj is pestering the designer, slowing her down. When the guys tell Raj to leave her alone he becomes really defensive. John then leaves to help the models get dressed, and leaves the task of setting prices in someone else’s hands. Their line is really modern, and totally outrageous.
THE SCORES: During the fashion show, we see the buyers admiring the creativity of Mosaic’s clothing line. In the end, though, the score was Men $7,735.00, and Women $22,060.00. After four weeks of being badly beaten, the women won by a large margin. THE REWARD: Walk to the Hugo Boss Store by Trump tower, where there will be a huge celebrity party and a performance by Cirque du Soleil. At the party, the women did some bonding, and celebrated their victory.
BOARDROOM: John blames their failure on Kevin and Wes’s error in pricing. Kevin blames their loss on John’s choice of designers. Raj is then criticized for hounding the designer and the models, but turns around and blames Andy’s inexperience. John chooses to hold only Andy and Kevin responsible for the loss. Andy is criticized for not stepping up as leader, but Trump tells him that he shouldn’t be in the boardroom. Kevin is told that his error in price judgment was bad, however, not as bad as the mistakes John made. John is criticized for blaming Kevin for pricing and not Wes, and for bringing only two people to the boardroom. As well, Trump criticizes John’s lack of control over pricing. Although he’ll be a wonderful businessman one day, John is fired.
Next week: Trump pulls everyone into the boardroom and changes the teams around, the task has to do with dogs which makes some of the girls sick, and the boardroom puts Trump in a really bad mood.

Last week the older guys got rid of Brady in an attempt to suppress the athletic guys who could become a threat in the later game, but will it bite them in the butt? This week, right away the tribes experience chaos as a Vanuatu tribesman comes to their camp, and amid the communication barrier, directs them to choose a chief for themselves. Sarge (Lea) and Scout are chosen for the men and women respectively. Immediately after the native leaves the women’s camp, tribes experience a kind of earthquake sensation, and images of erupting volcanoes are shown. It inspires a great awe in all of the castaways.
REWARD CHALLENGE: Sarge and scout are pulled from the group, and the rest are instructed to drop their buffs. Scout is instructed to divide the tribes with an equal number of men and women on each. This will give Sarge the choice of which tribe he wants. Her division is as follows:
Yassur: Rory, Eliza, Bubba, Leeann, Ami
Lopevi: Chad, Julie, Chris, Twila, John
Sarge chooses to stick with the tribe with the male majority, leaving Scout to battle it out with Eliza, Leeann, and Ami. But, since there’s eleven left, Lisa is left alone on the old mat and given the ability to choose her own tribe, she stays true to Scout and the women’s majority and joins the Yassur tribe.
For reward, members must alternate while they dive, swim, and retrieve markers (from lower and lower levels). At the end of ten minutes, the tribe with the most markers wins reward (Pringles and beer to chow down on at a waterfall). Teams are head to head until Chris drops his marker to the ocean floor. Immediately after, John brings the team back up to speed. In the end, Amy can’t dive deep, and Lopevi wins reward.
Afterward, tension mounts at each camp when Bubba calls Yassur a prostitute church, and Ami argues against showing the men how to open coconuts.
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: Race into the jungle in pairs, untie and collect pieces to build an outrigger canoe, paddle out and hit a flag, then return to the respective mats to win immunity. Lopevi is the first to assemble their canoe, with a big lead. Despite both team’s apparent inability to steer their canoes, Lopevi wins immunity. Jeff points out that Rory screwed up on untying the knots, and that the team completely fell apart trying to paddle the canoe.
TRIBAL COUNCIL: Rory and Travis (Bubba) agree that one of them will probably go home, to which Ami agrees, due to Bubba’s attempt to scheme with Chris (other tribe) regarding the merge. Bubba knows that he’s “caught with his hand in the cookie jar.” The other women, though, contemplate getting rid of Ami, in order to save the team’s strength by keeping their two men. In the end, however, the women stick together and vote to get rid of Bubba.
NEXT WEEK: Rory petitions to save his butt threatening that if he’s going home he’ll stop working, and at Lopevi, the women take their clothes off.

THE APPRENTICE 2 Thursday, Sept. 9th, 2004
Last week, Apex went to the boardroom after they collectively failed to run a restaurant. Jen C, who was the project manager, was totally criticized for her lack of leadership skills. Carolyn vocalized her extreme disappointment in the women’s team. This week, the women return from the boardroom and immediately begin bickering about all the little things that everyone did wrong. Before the task even begins, Pamela is sent over to the girls’ team to be the project manager.
THE TASK: Go to the headquarters of QVC, in Pennsylvania, pick a product, and appear on TV to sell the product. Team with the highest gross sales, in twelve minutes, wins.
APEX: Project Manager is Pamela. Immediately, on the three hour bus ride, Pamela takes the role of vicious head mistress, lecturing the girls on their behaviour. In return, the girls express some animosity. The girls choose the “It Works,” cleaning sponge and Pamela designates sub-tasks to everyone but herself. They set their price at $27.23, for packages of thirty sponges. After a few practice trials, the girls do not like Maria’s presence on the television cameras and act in an inappropriate manner to remove her from the picture.
MOSAIC: Project Manager is Chris. The guys choose to market a grill of some sort. Kelly and Raj fight about whether or not the price of the product should sit above seventy dollars. They opt for $71.25, rather than Raj’s suggested $69.99.
THE SCORES: 659 units at $27.23, totaling $17944.57. 252 units at $71.25, total $17955.00. The men win by a margin of ten dollars, thanks to Kelly’s decision to up the price.
As a reward: The men get to play tennis in Flushing Meadows with John McEnroe and Anna Kournikova. While there, Raj makes a bet with Anna that he can return at least one of five serves, so she will spend more time with him. He misses all five, and must run around the top of the stadium, in his boxers. Good times.
BOARDROOM: Before going into the boardroom, the girls criticize Pamela’s leadership, and her decision to set the price above twenty dollars. The team finally unites in an effort to get their project manager fired. Pamela admits that she’s at risk, but doesn’t seem worried.
Pamela holds Stacey and Maria partially responsible for the team’s loss. Although the team didn’t think so, Trump’s advisors advise him that Pamela was an extremely strong leader. However, Carolyn continues to criticize Pamela’s price point. Pamela tells Trump that Stacey isn’t worth an ounce… nice stuff. Maria is called a liar in terms of her previous experience in public speaking, on the basis of her on-camera performance. Wow, women are vicious! Trump criticizes Pamela for poor assessment of the members on her team (assigning tasks that she later claims other women were unable to handle), and fires her. After she leaves, Trump expresses his discontent with Pamela’s overconfidence, despite the fact that she’s was consistently wrong.

Last week, both the men and the women were forced to sacrifice a player. John won individual immunity and, after using it, made the choice to give it to Amy, as she was in no risk of going home. The men said adios to John P, and the ladies got rid of the tension-causing Mia.
REWARD CHALLENGE: In a simple game of memory (kind of like the card game) teams have to match items. The first team with five matches wins immunity. The guys start by uncovering some items, and instead of limiting the amount of new items they reveal, they show the women where everything is, and they take an immediate and definite lead, winning the challenge. As a reward, Yasur gets to take a local tribesman back to their camp, where he helps with their shelter, cooking, and food gathering. He even shows them how to find sugar cane, which the women really enjoy.
IMMUNITY CHALLENGE: Both tribes must solve a puzzle. On a 4 X 4 board, there are four tiles in each of four colors and there are four each of four different symbols, each on a different color. One person must sit on a high chair and direct the team, with the goal of arranging the tiles so that each row and column has four different colors and four different symbols. Two of the same cannot exist in any row. Thanks to Rory’s complete lack of control, the women win immunity.
TRIBAL COUNCIL: Rory worries that Sarge (Lea) will turn against him. However, with only seven men left, the older men seem to have the advantage, and so the decision is easily made to get rid of Brady, leaving John K to fend for himself.
NEXT WEEK: Everyone drops their buffs… we’ll either see a reshuffle or a merge (kind of early in the game for that though), and possibly an active volcano!
