Research Assistant Opportunity—Medical Diagnosis and Education for Young, Marginalized, Pupils

Sadly, I have a nephew who, at a young age, was identified as having a mental health condition. This means that throughout his school years he needs unique attention and a varied curriculum. Other youngsters in this bracket, particularly those bearing marginalized identities, tend too often to fall between the cracks.

All students require the best possible treatment so that they can further their aspirations and become productive citizens; unique educational realities must exist to meet medical realities of individuals. To that end this Research Assistant posting seeks to research “educational access for children from marginalized populations, including Indigenous peoples, who are diagnosed with complex or chronic illnesses.” The goal is to create some actionable policy narratives that will better fit the needs of students with health issues, and, notably, those already abiding in one or more marginalized and under-serviced demographics. As always, research and interpersonal skills are key as well as an interest in this worthy topic.  This is a significant posting as it advertises five hundred hours of work over twenty-one months, at a compensation of twenty-six dollars per hour.  If childhood education and related social science topics fall in your purview please do send your resume and cover letter to Dr. M.
