Angela Pappas

Angela loves learning and discussing personal finances and money. Not in the greedy sense, but in constant pursuit of financial peace. Financial freedom if you will. Her passion for this started in her early 30s, when she started paying for younger years’ financial mistakes. She’s now spent nearly a decade trying to learn how to correct those mistakes and, at the same time, has learnt to love the process. While she still has a long way to go to get to financial freedom, she hopes that by writing about her journey she keeps the momentum going, and, hopefully, also inspires others towards financial independence.

The Struggling Student Rants—The Matrix Resolutions

Every year, on December 31st, most of the planet celebrates a full spin around the sun.  Nothing new about that.  We also commemorate this full circle by making bold statements, both to ourselves and others.  You can bet your bottom that this year we’ll all quit smoking, lose the thirty pounds, walk out on the… Read more »

The Struggling Student Rants—Mid-COVID Money Woes

I don’t do sappy.  However, the world around us has changed.  Everyone seems isolated—more so than before—and I feel like the majority of the planet has no grip on reality.  We all scroll through hundreds of social media posts, from real and imaginary friends, claiming if anyone needs to talk they should reach out.  But… Read more »

The Struggling Student Rants—Til Debt Do Us Part

Typical Western society refuses to talk about money in its raw form.  We may discuss the abstract concept of wealth and the financial state of our local economies, but when it comes down to the nitty-gritty we have learned to zip it.  This topic, just like politics and sex, is so taboo we won’t even… Read more »

The Struggling Student Rants—Emergency Preparedness Kits

Most people are, by now, at least a couple weeks into their social distancing.  Some AU students are already used to staying indoors since there’s no need to venture outside; we already get a great education through AU.  Others were already working from home before this and are well-familiarized with telecommuting.  Many AU students even… Read more »

The Struggling Student Rants—The Next Zombie Apocalypse

Lately, things seem to be spiraling out of control.  It seems like 2020 decided to start the new decade off with some action.  Some are taking it seriously while others continue to stick their head in the sand and dismiss what’s happening around them.  I even came across a Washington Post news clip showing quite… Read more »
