Marie Well

I’m Marie Well, as in healthy well. At least, that’s my aim—to get well and make you well. We all have woes, from breakups to cancer to hoarder houses. I’m here to fix those woes—with tips mixed with my own tales.

Why read me? I’ve got a track record of fixin’ stuff. I’ve cured myself of anxiety. For a decade, I had anxiety attacks that struck almost daily. When not stricken, I’d write Voice articles, mostly on how to combat stress.

And then my world changed. One week went by with no attacks. A month. A year. Two years. And counting.

Now, I want to skyrocket our health—and bolster our creativity. After all, nothing soothes better than strokes of paint or tones of music or reps in a gym.

So, let’s get fit, creative, and well with Marie Well.

How Memories Bring Joy

If you ever experience a burst of love from someone: a smile from a stranger, a hug from Mom, write it down. Life is too short to let a moment of love, however fleeting, pass us by. Such beautiful memories can drown out our sorrows. When a negative thought strikes, shift to a beautiful memory…. Read more »

How Laughter Can Bring Us Success

When faced with obstacles at school or work, we might tend to stress. But a better option is to let out happy wild laughter. How to Embrace Failure for the Win

I felt like the stepchild locked away in the attic.  I failed again.  My new job was working out well until the boss hovered at my door, spread his arms wide, a grin on his face, and insisted I hug him.  I blasted off an angry email requesting he never do that again.  The next… Read more »

How Not to Dwell on Others’ Flaws

We are all blessed with flaws. Flaws may be shortcomings, but they provide us with the opportunity to tame or, better yet, overcome our weaknesses. And that overcoming is what makes life a hero’s journey. But what about other people’s flaws—especially the flaws that harm us? Those people, too, are on a hero’s journey. And… Read more »

How to Control Our Minds

If we’re happy despite what twists life may throw, then we’ve learned to control our minds.  And days of pure happiness are possible for every one of us, even in the most severe life circumstances. When I was a teen, I spent a short time focused on controlling my mind.  I’d wake up before school… Read more »

This Is What a Dream Job Looks Like

A waitress at a spaghetti restaurant exuded passion for her side gig. She was working in some pyramid-like scheme—and she loved it. I delighted in every moment she came to our table, chattering about her pursuits. I couldn’t get enough. But work was different for me; I thought I’d never work again. I had what… Read more »

Six Traits of Highly Successful Women

I love hearing about women’s successes, especially from those most unlikely to succeed.  Some women are rocket ships.  They excel at work, become Chief Executive Officers, and lead hundreds of employees to unbeatable success.  And some of these women come from very humble beginnings, some of which may be shocking. So, how can we become… Read more »

Persist Despite Failure

Have you ever told someone about your dream, and they laughed at you, mocked you, but then called you “tenacious” when you reached your goal?  Or did you ever get the opportunity to watch a grad ceremony, cameras continually zeroing in on the graduating student with the crushed spirit? Or did you ever hear wild… Read more »

The Study Dude—Small Wins Add Up

We students might start a course overwhelmed, uncertain, wondering whether we’ll pass. For instance, math classes can create a lot of anxiety. And anyone taking a five-course load needs to get time-efficient fast. The goal is to do well in a course. A lot of battles will occur along the way. There may be an… Read more »
