Marie Well

I’m Marie Well, as in healthy well. At least, that’s my aim—to get well and make you well. We all have woes, from breakups to cancer to hoarder houses. I’m here to fix those woes—with tips mixed with my own tales.

Why read me? I’ve got a track record of fixin’ stuff. I’ve cured myself of anxiety. For a decade, I had anxiety attacks that struck almost daily. When not stricken, I’d write Voice articles, mostly on how to combat stress.

And then my world changed. One week went by with no attacks. A month. A year. Two years. And counting.

Now, I want to skyrocket our health—and bolster our creativity. After all, nothing soothes better than strokes of paint or tones of music or reps in a gym.

So, let’s get fit, creative, and well with Marie Well.

30 Pieces of Wisdom from a 50-year-old

Turning 50 feels like turning 18, only better. The wisdom gained at age 50 can lead to the most blissful moments imaginable. And the wisdom each of us gains by age 50 will be unique from the next person’s. That’s because wisdom is infinite. But I believe all wisdom can be simplified to one… Read more »

Do What We Love

We should go headlong into what we love to do, ignoring all naysayers because, once we get paid for our passions, our lives will be filled with enthusiasm. Before choosing an education path, we should take personality tests to discover our best career fits.  Doing these tests can take us directly into our passions, rather… Read more »

Listen for Wisdom from Everyone

Here’s a healthy challenge to all students: spend one week listening carefully for wisdom—often shared in t he most unexpected places. Wisdom is everywhere.  Every single person has wisdom.  The guy on the street who shares his ice cream cone with his dog, worried about the next meal, has wisdom.  The child in a coma,… Read more »

Eat Desserts to Score Higher Grades

To make the most of our studies, we need to eat well.  The more wholesome foods we eat, the better we fare on exams and during moments of stress.  But who says we can’t be a little sinful when the sin is actually saintly?  Who says we can’t indulge in candy apples, milkshakes, pies, and… Read more »

Brush Aside Bad Thoughts Easily

Negative thoughts can be brushed aside, more freely than we realize.  And pure love, forgiveness, healing, and faith can replace that negativity in a snap of a finger.  If only we knew how simple it is to achieve these positive states.  Even during the most traumatic circumstances—the ones where we just want life to end—blissful… Read more »

Why We Should Exercise in the Woods

Have you heard of the Japanese therapy called forest bathing? Forest bathing (spending time in the forest) can ease stress, make us happier, boost our immune systems, spike our creativity, and, oh, so much more.  But there’s something even better than forest bathing, far more rejuvenating.  The ultimate bliss, at least in my opinion, comes… Read more »

The Study Dude—The Art of Study Breaks

Breaks are vital for studying success.  Two different approaches to study breaks can give us the most mileage. Approach #1: The Recommended Break: The first approach, which relies on using timers, is to study for 25 minutes straight and then take a 5-minute break.  Do this two times in a row, totalling 50 minutes of… Read more »

The Study Dude—How I Improved my Highlighting in Five Easy Steps

At university, I highlighted like a wild dog—entire pages soaked in yellow.  I’d take my highlighted points, jot them down on cue cards, and memorize them all.  Study time was gruelling. Weirder still, I couldn’t figure out how other students got A’s taking two more classes than me each semester.  But I showed them: After… Read more »

Why We Should Never Throw Away Keepsakes

I don’t know when the trend of throwing away all my keepsakes began.  But I now know the regret that follows. I read that some people treasure keepsakes, and I never understood why.  But when we cherish a piece of the heart someone left us in form of an object, we can later reflect.  If… Read more »
