Marie Well

I’m Marie Well, as in healthy well. At least, that’s my aim—to get well and make you well. We all have woes, from breakups to cancer to hoarder houses. I’m here to fix those woes—with tips mixed with my own tales.

Why read me? I’ve got a track record of fixin’ stuff. I’ve cured myself of anxiety. For a decade, I had anxiety attacks that struck almost daily. When not stricken, I’d write Voice articles, mostly on how to combat stress.

And then my world changed. One week went by with no attacks. A month. A year. Two years. And counting.

Now, I want to skyrocket our health—and bolster our creativity. After all, nothing soothes better than strokes of paint or tones of music or reps in a gym.

So, let’s get fit, creative, and well with Marie Well.

Hidden Secrets and Gems to Finding Hyper-Efficiency

I have Gopi Krishna syndrome.  It’s a great thing to have.  Gopi Krishna was a Hindu who had a life-transformative experience: he underwent enlightenment through a physical bolt of energy that erupted throughout his spine during a Kundalini moment in meditation.  As a result of the unwieldy power, he started going crazy and sought others… Read more »

A Knack for Making Money

For a while, I didn’t work.  First, I was knocked out of the ring due to ten years of severe anxiety and chronic disease.  During that time, I’d search for ways to make extra money.  And indeed, nothing I searched seemed to result in anything that would make much money. Since healing myself of anxiety… Read more »

How to Pursue Knowledge

Pursuing knowledge is the greatest aspiration, next to giving unconditional love.  When people temporarily die and enter what they call “heaven,” they often report that curious angels ask them, “What have you learned?” And these temporarily “deceased” people are often invited to ask any question they desire.  Sometimes people are at a loss for a… Read more »

When I Grow Up, I Want to be a Janitor

It’s crazy, but professional janitorial careers are fascinating vocations.  And if cleanliness is a sign of maturity, I have some growing up to do.  You may be like me and have a lifelong history of being scolded due to a lack of cleaning aptitude, despite best intentions and hard effort.  Imagine spending upwards of an… Read more »

The Ideal Mindset for Academic Excellence

The “ideal” is the best measure of success when striving for a goal.  And we all can achieve the ideal.  So why settle for less? But I don’t want to assume I know our ideal courses of action, as we all have different strengths, schedules, and life paths.  But I do know how to problem… Read more »

How to Be Inspired

There are ways to feel inspired, whether in the good times or bad.  It’s an accumulative effect: the more “right” things we do, the more we burst with inspiration, although the “wrong” things are intended to put us on that right path, even if the path is miraculously winding.  And the beauty is that we… Read more »

Hard Work is Euphoric

I’m never retiring.  As long as I can roll out of bed and stay upright for eight hours, I’m manning the battalions of the work front.  You see, Mom was meticulous and would tear our bed sheets off the bed, demanding we remake it at the sign of the slightest crease.  And Dad was the… Read more »

Getting to Love Yourself on Video

Did you ever apply for a job and they requested you submit a video interview of yourself?  And did you pass on that job, thinking, “I just don’t have what it takes to be on video?” If so, join the club.  Unfortunately, cell phone videos up close are not flattering. At work, we have an… Read more »

Why Learning is Good for its Own Sake

A sign at my brick-and-mortar university said, “Learning Is Good for Its Own Sake.” And I wondered, how exactly is learning good for its own sake, if not merely for a credential?  Indeed, it’s critical to learn new things daily, whether a new skill, idea, hobby, or talent.  Daily learning is as essential as watering… Read more »

Choose Life: Medical Assistance in Dying

A beloved Voice Magazine writer (and they’re all beloved) brought my attention to Medical Assistance in Dying.  I’m happy she is against it because her life, my life, your life—everybody’s life—is incredibly meaningful. I don’t want to delve into who “qualifies” or how “to apply.” But I agree with Elisa who said, “One life lost… Read more »
