Marie Well

I’m Marie Well, as in healthy well. At least, that’s my aim—to get well and make you well. We all have woes, from breakups to cancer to hoarder houses. I’m here to fix those woes—with tips mixed with my own tales.

Why read me? I’ve got a track record of fixin’ stuff. I’ve cured myself of anxiety. For a decade, I had anxiety attacks that struck almost daily. When not stricken, I’d write Voice articles, mostly on how to combat stress.

And then my world changed. One week went by with no attacks. A month. A year. Two years. And counting.

Now, I want to skyrocket our health—and bolster our creativity. After all, nothing soothes better than strokes of paint or tones of music or reps in a gym.

So, let’s get fit, creative, and well with Marie Well.

Navy Seal Stress Buster

If you want to combat extreme anxiety or fatigue, then learn from the elite forces.  Elite forces, such as the Navy Seals, are trained to cope with severe stressors.  These stressors include having a limb blown apart to witnessing the most inhumane acts.  This sounds morbid, but there is wisdom in how the elite forces… Read more »

How to Handle an Essay Exam

To excel at a college or university you must work hard and follow systems.  For example, let’s examine a technique I adopted for writing essay exams.  Interestingly, I later discovered that a very similar system was adopted by other top students who authored study tip books.  It’s testimony that maximum academic performance is like a… Read more »

How to Handle Criticism

No one loves criticism.  But criticism has its place—at least, self-criticism does when done right.  But criticizing others is often a futile effort.  Often, complaints lead to hard feelings and struggling relationships.  But how do you correct someone who’s gone off course? Doling out criticism.  How do you best criticize someone?  By saying nothing and… Read more »

Inspired!

Today, I was reading a book on grooming your kids to become elite athletes.  Reading books by athletes is excellent for developing high-performance mindsets.  The book is called Mental Toughness for Young Athletes by Troy Horne and his athletic son, Moses Horne.  I’ve learned from this book that it just takes an idea—a flash of inspiration–for a… Read more »

I Would Only Want Fame if This Were True

Many famous people implode.  For instance, they turn to heavy drug abuse to cope with celebrity status.  And I recently looked at a disturbing autobiography about a high-profile model victimized by Hollywood.  I couldn’t “unsee” what I saw, which terrified me, so I won’t elaborate on it further. But the point is, I would only… Read more »

New Year’s Resolution to Earn Six-Figures

The New Year is swiftly approaching, and what better time to consider a New Year’s resolution than today.  I have a New Year’s resolution you may want to adopt.  It is to earn a six-figure salary.  And I hope to achieve it within two years.  Whether you have a disability, live in poverty, have insurmountable… Read more »

Four Odd Fitness and Health Gifts for Christmas

I have four somewhat odd fitness and health gadgets you may want to give a loved one for Christmas.  They are the chin-up/dips bar, the Gua Sha knife, the neck weight, and the respiratory muscle builder.  I use two already.  I’m ordering the chin-up device at the end of the month, and I want to… Read more »

Controlling the Mind—Getting Serious

I am training to be certified as a Marriage Foundation Counselor.  Although the psychological community does not accredit The Marriage Foundation, I think the teachings are phenomenal.  It’s teaching me to control my mind.  And controlling the mind should be a constant effort.  That is if the objective is to find joy and love, no… Read more »

Pure Positive Energy for All Relationships

What do work relationships, personal relationships, and diplomacy have in common? First, they best function when based on purely positive energy. I developed a more remarkable ability to relate to the people in my life after taking multiple courses from The Marriage Foundation.  The organization isn’t accredited by the psychological community but offers advice far… Read more »
