Marie Well

I’m Marie Well, as in healthy well. At least, that’s my aim—to get well and make you well. We all have woes, from breakups to cancer to hoarder houses. I’m here to fix those woes—with tips mixed with my own tales.

Why read me? I’ve got a track record of fixin’ stuff. I’ve cured myself of anxiety. For a decade, I had anxiety attacks that struck almost daily. When not stricken, I’d write Voice articles, mostly on how to combat stress.

And then my world changed. One week went by with no attacks. A month. A year. Two years. And counting.

Now, I want to skyrocket our health—and bolster our creativity. After all, nothing soothes better than strokes of paint or tones of music or reps in a gym.

So, let’s get fit, creative, and well with Marie Well.

The Quran and Christian Bible Are as Close as Kin

I went to church as a teen but, shortly after that, left Christianity.  Then, in grad school, I started reading religious texts and books from all traditions.  Reading these sacred texts, self-help books, and books by various spiritual and religious authors was essential to my finding happiness.  I consider myself Christian, but I genuinely love… Read more »

Our Rocket Ship is Launching

I don’t know how it happened, but my enthusiasm for life is at its highest.  I’m in menopause, so presumably life should be terrible.  But it’s not.  I’m on fire with joy.  I’m unsure what I did right or if it’s just luck.  But I have some insights that may interest you.  Here they are:… Read more »

How to Sculpt Your Physique Fashionably through Sports

This article is a touch taboo.  That’s because I explore how to sculpt your physique when the focus should be on how it makes you feel.  And I believe that fitness should be dedicated to our “higher power,” not vanity. The good news is that I took a fashion course and have done many different… Read more »

Nothing Can Limit Us

The only thing that can limit us is how we think.  That’s because we are going to act based on our thoughts.  And while our friends in the philosophy department may study metaphysics, they will perhaps encounter the many worlds theory.  This theory states that whatever we can imagine has, is, or will occur in… Read more »

Can We Compete with Shania Twain in Our 90s?

Many religions believe in reincarnation.  I believe everything we do in this lifetime has implications for at least the afterlife.  But if there is an afterlife or reincarnation, we should ask ourselves this:  What if we’re better looking, fitter, wealthier, more famous, more talented, sweeter, and more intelligent than Shania Twain next lifetime?  Now, that’s… Read more »

The Impossible?

Recently I saw a sign that said, “Impossible is not fact.  It’s an opinion.” I’m not sure if it was an advertisement for Impossible Burgers, but it was compelling. Anything terrific is possible.  You can have true love, a happy family, peak health, spiritual enlightenment, a Ph.D., subject matter expertise, incredible talents, a highly successful… Read more »

Hijabs and Love for the Quran and Judaism

I have a fascination with hijabs.  In fact, I’ve had one in my Amazon shopping cart for over a month.  It’s not for public or spiritual reasons but to prevent my wet hair from dripping on the hardwood floor.  Despite this, I’ve been intrigued for years by the thought of wearing one, partly for convenience. … Read more »

Review of a Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving Course

I have a course referral you will want to take advantage of.  I’m in the final week of a six-week critical thinking and problem-solving course called “Black Belt In Thinking Foundations”.  And it is mind-blowing.  It’s the first course in a series of three, all of which I am unquestionably going to take.  It’s not… Read more »

How to Succeed Wildly as an Optimist

I haven’t read Pollyanna, but I’ve been called Pollyanna.  I’ve been compared to the neighbor in the Simpsons that kept a chipper attitude, much to Homer’s annoyance.  I’ve been criticized for having lofty goals and seeing the world through rose-colored glasses.  But I love it!  Those traits are part of optimism.  A course I’m currently enrolled… Read more »

Lessons I Learned About Love

True love is not what you see on TV.  It’s not critical.  It’s not unkind.  It doesn’t have expectations.  It’s never jealous.  Real love is purely selfless and unconditional.  I’ve experienced what the Western perspective of self-oriented love creates in a relationship.  And I’ve experienced, on the other hand, what selfless, unconditional love produces.  I… Read more »
